In the past CreativeHousePlans.com designer Rick Ruscio has served as a consultant to The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). His active participation as an architectural designer has included providing usability input and design ideas in several capacities. Currently, Rick is a member of the design committee and ADA consultant for the new Cross Country Community tennis center, which will be built @ Holy Family High School, later next year.
Past Experience
While practicing architectural design over the past 35 years , Rick has designed a number of homes for individuals and their families requiring accessible housing. Accessible design work involves everything from additions or renovations, to designing entirely new, fully accessible homes, each time working directly with clients to meet the personal design requirements. It was an honor for Rick when he was selected to be a member of the advisory board for Denver's original Ocean Journey Aquarium, before construction began. He advised on all aspects of ADA accessibility regulations, along with designing the main entrance to ensure it provided accessible ease for large groups of visitors. Rick also served on the design committee for the Breckenridge Outdoor Recreation Center's "Scott Griffith Lodge", which now houses and provides accessible wilderness experiences for many challenged populations, all in a beautiful mountain environment. As primary designer, Rick's designs had to meet ADA codes as specified in the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). Rick designed the wheelchair ramp and a wheelchair accessible deck.
